From a great distance visitors can see the leaning tower of Bad Frankenhausen beckoning. The 600-year-old church spire rises above the spa town. It's hard to believe that this dominant landmark is skewed even more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Simply fascinating!
With an overhang of 4.6 meters, the tower is one-half meter more out of plumb than its Italian competitor in Pisa. Visitors to the town are thrilled by the tilted spire.
The 630-year-old church tower, a structure from the High Gothic period, is an important cultural monument in Bad Frankenhausen. It retains some of its Gothic elements such as the eight-pointed arches in the tower and some pointed doors and windows.
Location The Leaning Tower is in Oberkirchgasse in the north part of town.
