The airfield is at the southern slope of the Kyffhäuser hills, about 50 km north of Erfurt. It is named after the aviation pioneer Hans Grade. Since 1990 the airfield has been operated by the Aeroclubs Hans Grade e. V. The grass-covered field, which measures 1400 meters with a 3% east-west incline, has a landing strip of 650 meter for aircraft weighing up to 5.7 tons. It has been approved for motorized aircraft, gliders, model planes, helicopters, ultralight planes, parachute jumping and balloons. 


Sightseeing flights in gliders, power gliders or motorized aircraft are offered on weekends and holidays and by previous appointment. Guests can have a bite to eat at "Trudelklause" at the airfield.

Directions
The airfield is on the L2285 between Bad Frankenhausen and Udersleben at the southern slope of the Kyffhäuser hills.

Opening times
From 1 April to 30 September, daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the winter months the office is not always open. For inquiries, the purchase of gift certificates, etc., the airfield office is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
